Norton Security and Zone Alarm

posted Thursday, 1 February 2007

Norton security and Zone Alarm are similar pieces of software. Both used to maximize online privacy protection, detect intrusions, filter spam email, and automatically block viruses and computer hackers, and are a javascript blocker. Both are also known to cause some problems while using Blog-City. Some times it can cause problems when commenting on other blogs.

What do they do?

There are three main problems that some of our users have experienced:

- unable to comment on other users blogs.

- sometimes when you post an entry the body is not there

- the toolbar from the Advanced Editor is missing.

How to fix it

It's simple to fix. Basically you need to allow Blog-City through. This can be done with the following instructions:

Choose Options..

In the dialog box that pops up choose Advanced options..
Click the Add site button..
Add <yourblog>.blog-city.com (replace "<yourblog>" with your blog name)..
Highlight <yourblog>.blog-city.com in the list, and then choose the Privacy tab under Browsing privacy area..
Change referrer to Permit

Make sure the checkbox for use these rules for <yourblog>.blog-city.com is checked.

Zone Alarm:

Open up Zone Alarm..
Click the Privacy tab..
Manually add <yourblog>.blog-city.com (replace "<yourblog>" with your blog name)..
