Menu Overview

posted Thursday, 1 February 2007

This page describes the main top level menu system for version 6.0 of the blog-city service.

Home is the default menu when you log into your blog. On your home page you will find some of the general information you need such as number of entries, quick access to comments/trackback and a new feature: The ability to invite people to join your blog.

Compose has now replaced Blog-It in version 5.0 with a cleaner fresher look.

The Archives menu has now replaced the old Entries tab. This will allow you to list and search all the entries you have ever written.

The new Widgets section is the section where you lay out your data. You have 4 areas.

  • Main Blog: This is your main blog layout
  • Private Area: This allows you to give permission to blog-city users to view your private entries. This replaces the Members Area and also Security Zones
  • Blog Entry: This allows you to set consistent text or imagery surrounding each of your blog entries.
  • Custom home page: This is an optional layout which you can switch on, it will allow you to do something completely new and out of the ordinary from your main blog area. Many people use this for Flash Intros

Everything commonly found under Settings and Extra previously now all fall under one tab, Settings. Click here for an overview of this tab.

This menu, Skin deals with the look and feel of your blog, its theme, its skin. Choose from a range of predefined themes, and customise as little or as much as you want with our colour customiser, CSS wizard or if you know what you are doing, edit the CSS yourself directly.

Last but not least, good old statistics. Redeveloped for easy navigation but comfortingly familiar too.
